Lockdown: Maharashtra allows home delivery of alcohol

Maharashtra government on Tuesday allowed home delivery of liquor in the state. As per the order, licensed shops will be allowed to deliver Indian-made foreign liquor, mild liquor, beer and wine.

However, there are certain restrictions.

Delivery of alcohol by a shop can only be made within its area of license. The person deployed for the delivery must wear a mask and use hand sanitiser at frequent intervals.

Furthermore, liquor delivery can only be made during the permitted hours and days of alcohol sale.

The state government has clarified that the permission to deliver liquor to homes will be effective only till the end of the lockdown.

Maharashtra is currently battling with the worst coronavirus-outbreak in the country. As per Centre’s data, the state has reported 23,401 cases of the novel coronavirus, out of which at least 868 people have died and 4,786 people have been discharged.
