The craft brewing industry thrives on experimentation, shared knowledge, and collaboration. On International Women’s Day, Arena Brewhouse in Bangalore created a space where all three came together. Five women brewers from across the city gathered at the brewhouse for a special women in brewing collaboration, turning a single brew day into a celebration of creativity and community.

The collaboration brought together the best of women brewers: Divya Baviskar, Sweettha Gunasekaran, Kajal Manchanda, Pooja Dhamanaskar, and Neethu K P, each representing a growing wave of women shaping India’s craft beer landscape. Working side by side in the brewhouse, the brewers combined their ideas, techniques, and brewing perspectives to create a beer that captured both the spirit of the occasion and the joy of collaboration.

The result of that collaboration is Pineapple Drift, a limited-edition pineapple lemongrass wheat ale with 5.5% ABV brewed to mark the occasion.

A Beer Inspired by the Season

The flavour profile of Pineapple Drift reflects Bangalore’s transition into warmer months. March in the city often signals longer evenings and a growing demand for lighter, refreshing beers.

Built on a smooth wheat ale base, the beer pours pale golden with a soft head. Pineapple delivers bright tropical sweetness, while lemongrass introduces a crisp citrus aroma that lifts the beer and balances the fruit character.

The result is a light and refreshing wheat ale designed for warm-weather drinking. The gentle fruitiness of pineapple pairs naturally with the herbal freshness of lemongrass, creating a beer that feels vibrant yet easy to drink. This seasonal flavour approach reflects a broader trend within the craft brewing industry, where brewers increasingly experiment with fruit and botanical ingredients to create distinctive flavour profiles.

Celebrating Women Brewers Collaboration in Craft Brewing

Beyond the beer itself, Pineapple Drift represents the growing presence of women in brewing and the collaborative culture that continues to define craft beer.

Historically, brewing has often been perceived as a male-dominated profession. However, more women are now stepping into roles across breweries, from production and recipe development to leadership positions. Collaborative brews such as this highlight the strength of the brewing community. By bringing brewers together in a shared space, these initiatives encourage knowledge exchange and creative experimentation.

Arena Brewhouse also acknowledged The Ferment Formula for helping create the platform that made the collaboration possible. Spaces that foster dialogue and creativity often play an important role in strengthening the wider craft brewing community.

“Some beers mark a season; others mark a moment. This one celebrates both,” the team behind the brew shared.

For Arena Brewhouse, Pineapple Drift also marks a milestone. This is the brewery’s first Women’s Day collaborative brew, and the team hopes to continue supporting similar initiatives in the future. The beer was launched on 8 March as a limited-edition release, capturing both the energy of the brew day and the spirit of collaboration that inspired it. In many ways, Pineapple Drift reflects what makes the craft brewing industry unique. Great beer often begins with great ingredients, but it is the people behind the process who truly shape the final result.

Five brewers, one brewhouse, and a beer that carries the spirit of women in brewing collaboration in every sip.
