The ethos of the All Stars Tap Takeover is to spotlight the breweries and their ingenious brewmasters and their wild experiments. The Blonde Ale, inspired by the Konkani sweet dish – Patoli, is a light and refreshing beer that is perfect for the hot summers of India. Brewed using local rice from Karnataka, black jaggery, and coconut, it has a creamy mouthfeel with a hint of coconut that complements the sweet notes of jaggery and rice. With an ABV of 5% and an IBU of 15, this beer promises to tantalize the taste buds of beer enthusiasts.

The collaboration between BLR Brewing Co. and Great State Aleworks is a testament to their commitment to pushing boundaries and creating unique flavors that appeal to the Indian palate. The mastermind behind the creation of this beer is the head brewer of BLR Brewing Co., Umang Nair, who teamed up with the talented brewers of Great State Aleworks, Nakul Bhonsle and Divyesh Patil, to bring Blonde Ale to life.

“When Umang and I started discussing this long overdue collab, we thought of brewing a beer based on a dessert known as Patoli, which is common across the coastal regions of 3 adjoining states: Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. Imagined, created and brought to life by two friends and breweries, Nakul Bhonsle, Founder of Great State Aleworks and Gaurav Sikka, Founder & CEO of Arbor Brewing Company India; each bringing a unique skill to Half Pint. Whether you want to make new friends, catch up with old ones, or have a drink alone and ponder over the day that was; Half Pint is any mood that you want it to be. With twelve beers on tap, ranging from Great State Aleworks, Arbor Brewing Company India, collaborative beers with local breweries and the newest entrant, Half Pint beers. Half Pint brewed beers are our shared love for experimenting with everything seasonal and local. We will keep adding new beers along the way, quietly waiting for you to discover your “now” new favorite beer. The inaugural beer menu is a mix of familiar, new, borrowed and brewed that we want to share with you and we urge you to try them as half pints (250ml). We have three new Half Pint beers, Persimmon Wheat, a special wheat ale with hints of honey that is perfect for this weather. Borrowing some flavors from the sunshine state, we introduce the Kokum Sherbet, a summery red kokum and jeera sour, with salty and sour kokum notes and the Tamarind Wheat, a wheat ale with delicious tangy and tart flavors.

In the spirit of collaboration that Half Pint represents, Susegado and Great State Aleworks have also come together to brew a beautiful amber ale, Life of Poee. We like to think it’s a little bit of Goa in your glass – crisp, light bodied and has that malt sweetness from the state’s favorite bread. Don’t worry, we have some familiar beers as well, so you feel right at home. From Arbor Brewing Company, on offer is the Beach Shack, a juicy American Pale Ale with citrus and tropical fruit flavors; No Parking, a crispy, dry, medium-bodied pilsner; Orange Ginger saison which is a light and refreshing pale ale and the Bangalore Bliss, with aromas of bananas, cloves and floral lemon citrus blossom. Continuing with the familiar, from Great State Aleworks, on tap, is the Brightside, an easy drinking Belgian Witbier; Sunny Afternoon, a New England IPA with melon, bright orange and tangerine flavor and aroma and last but not least, the Streetside guava gose, a sour, salty beer infused guava which is quite addictive.

Food

The food menu has been created to complement the beers, inspired by seasonal produce, local flavors, and the vibrant cuisine Goa has to offer. A contemporary and concise menu with 14 small and sharing plates, the food is best described as hearty, wholesome and rustic. You feel like you’re visiting your aunty’s home for summer vacations, filled with love and passion. Offerings range from fun classics with a twist, pâtés like the Red pepper and almond pâté and the Mackerel pâté both served with a side of sliced, warm, crispy poee. There are Pan-fried prawns cooked in a garlic and chili oil, goat cheese and red pepper croquettes and Roasted beetroot, caramelized onion and blue cheese tarts. To soak up all those lovely brews you’ve been sipping on, try the Baked camembert with homemade tomato relish and poee, Fermented apple sauce glazed pork belly with apple chutney and green apple slaw, and Pan-fried herbed mackerel with confit tomatoes and salsa verde. We are happiest when tucking into a bowl of Slow cooked beef stew simmered in a Half Pint ale, and our portions are great for either sharing or for one person.

Interiors

Spread over 1100 sq ft, three rooms, the space is intimate and seats 22, with a dedicated bar space for those who prefer standing. Designed by Goa-based Leeann Periera, the space is created to evoke any emotion you like, painted black giving you a blank canvas so the only color in the space is conversation and craft beer. Half Pint is situated in an old Portuguese home, with a beautiful garden at the front and a “balcao” (balcony) for those balmy nights. As you enter the taverna-like taproom, you are greeted by a dimly lit comforting space, with communal tables and benches. You instantly feel at home, it’s cozy, intimate and inviting. A few more steps and you’ve reached the bar, a distinct space for you to get your beers on tap. As your evening progresses, we match your vibe with pub-style music.

Half Pint is a taproom, a gathering place, a community, a space to learn more about beer culture, an area of discovery for the new, familiar, borrowed and brewed. Come on by, grab a beer and perhaps a seat.

A first-of-its-kind awards show in India, conducted by Brewer World, was solely dedicated to the Beer and Brewing Community. It recognised the excellence in beers across India with a blind tasting judging process. During its course, it became one of the most premier Beer judging competitions for the Industry in India. A competition that is strictly open only to commercial brewers and microbreweries of all production sizes in India.

The judging panel consisted of BJCP Judges, Certified Cicerones and sensory experts. The judging process was concluded in the first week of May 2022 and the winners were announced during the Conclave Awards ceremony which was held on May 27th, 2022. Vir Das, India’s biggest and globally the biggest Indian comedian is now all set to soar our spirits even higher. This time alongside his comedy bits on stage, one will now be able to enjoy a light and crisp beer called Faaaakit, which is being brewed and distributed by one of India’s most innovative craft breweries – Great State Aleworks.

The team along with Vir, spent over a year to find the perfect blend of flavours before the final brew was locked in. The marriage between stand up comedy and a good time over a beer go hand in hand, making this a perfect collaboration and a perfect step into an entrepreneurial journey for Vir. Currently the beer will be available across Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad. In terms of a flavour profile, the beer is a clean, crisp and easy drinking beer with low bitterness and a fruity and dry finish.

Vir said in a statement, “Our motto was to spread happiness. And after a maybe stressful day you might want to literally say FaaaakIt and have a can of beer to unwind yourself. Also we wanted the beer to be for everyone, far often brands tend to alienate beer drinkers like the younger demographics or even women, and we wanted this to be for everyone. 40+ freshly crafted brews from 6 independent breweries and one meadery. Every brewery/meadery has a surprise brew. The Poona Brewout is curated by experienced beer fest organisers, ECO. A curated food showcase paired with craft beer from 7 participating local eateries. Each participant will showcase different cuisines and offerings. The menu and portion sizes too are being curated to suit a festival vibe with a focus on small plates and tapas style dishes so that patrons can experience a variety of dishes along with a plethora of brewtiful brews. This will be managed and curated by ‘The Markets’ by the Karen Anand team.

Vibrant, multi genre live music from 6+ performing bands curated by the awesome folks at High Out There! The lineup is a surprise! A dedicated drinking games zone featuring a minimum of 8 different beer drinking games! You can’t have a beer festival without some fun drinking games!

Great State Aleworks, a Pune-based specialised craft brewery known for collaborations, launches its first ever beer festival showcasing over 45 beers by more than 16 breweries across a span of 3 days. On each day, a specially curated mix of 15 beers and styles will be available on tap.

The Deep Dive Beer Fest is thoughtfully curated to showcase a variety of handpicked craft beers. It is a discovery platform for craft beer enthusiasts, giving them access to beers from multiple breweries. The beers will be available in 330ml pints and also in 120ml beer samplers which gives beer lovers an opportunity to try a repertoire of styles on each day.
