The Bengaluru based distribution craft brewery has 3 F&B outlets across the  city and offers a range of craft beers that are being supplied on tap and in cans across Bangalore,  Hyderabad and now Puducherry.  

Geist Brewing Co currently supplies their four variants, Geist Witty Wit, Geist Uncle Dunkel, Geist  Kamacitra and Geist James Blond in 500ml crowlers (cans) in Puducherry. These variants, along with the  addition of the Geist Weiss Guy and Geist Repeat, are now available on tap at select partner pubs, hotels  and restaurants in the region.

• Geist Witty Wit: In keeping with Belgian Witbier traditions, this wheat beer is brewed with orange  zest and coriander. Incredibly refreshing with a notable wheat flavour and tartness, it pours hazy  whitish-yellow with a creamy head.

• Geist Uncle Dunkel: Hazy, amber-brown with low hop bitterness, the German-style dark wheat  beer has a tasty flavour profile packed with bready malt, nuttiness, caramel and mild chocolate  along with banana and clove creating the aroma. 

           Style: Dark Wheat Beer | ABV: 5.4% | IBU: 14 

• Geist Kamacitra: this American-Style India Pale Ale is deep orange in colour, with a pleasant hoppy  bitterness. Smooth and flavourful, this IPA features citrus and tropical fruit hop characteristics.

          Style: American-style IPA | ABV: 6% | IBU: 43 

• Geist James Blond: A high-alcohol Belgian-style beer, fruity sweet with mild spicy notes, balanced  by a noble hop bitterness. 

          Style: Belgian style Strong Blonde Ale| ABV: 7.7% | IBU: 26 

• Geist Wiess Guy: Intense yellow and cloudy with low bitterness and lively carbonation, the  Bavarian-style Weissbier has distinctive aroma and flavours of bread, a touch of banana and some  clove to add a pleasant spiciness.

In FY24, the Company delivered a robust performance and reported Revenue from Operations of ₹2421 crore, compared to ₹2281 crore in FY23, registering a growth of 6% on a Y-o-Y basis. The Company delivered EBITDA of ₹588 crore over ₹488 crore last year, registering a growth of 21% on a Y-o-Y basis with a margin of 24%. The Company’s PBT stood at ₹340 crore, compared to ₹304 crore in FY23, registering a growth of 12% on a Y-o-Y basis. The Company made investments towards a high-end specialty state-of-the-art plant and began commercial production in January 2023. This resulted in increased interest and depreciation expenses in FY24.

In Q4 FY24, the Company reported Revenue from Operations of ₹625 crore, EBITDA of ₹156 crore, and PBT at ₹89 crore. The EBITDA Y-o-Y was influenced by two factors: the receipt of other income of ₹15.65 crore in Q4FY23 and adjustments made toward sales realization of certain product categories in response to a drop in raw material prices during FY24.

The Company’s consistent performance was driven by a combination of factors. Firstly, meeting the growing demand for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages played a pivotal role. Secondly, significant enhancements in internal efficiencies boosted operational effectiveness. Thirdly, a steadfast commitment to cultivating customer loyalty further solidified the Company’s position in the market. Additionally, prioritizing high-value-added products and an emphasize on a premium mix further fortified the Company’s profitability.

Bira 91 – India’s leading craft beer company, and one of the fastest growing beer brands globally, and New Belgium Brewing – one of the largest craft brewers in the United States, today announced the release of “Chutney Sour”, a collab beer that brings together vibrant flavors of Indian street food and the legendary craft brewing heritage of Colorado. 

Brewed with Tamarind – a puckering sour fruit used in Indian chutneys and curries – the beer is based on the classic Dubbel, a Belgian-style ale perfected by the New Belgium Brewery. 

The beer was simultaneously released in the companies’ respective taprooms – Bengaluru & Delhi-NCR, in India for Bira 91, and Fort Collins, Colorado for New Belgium Brewery. The release was timed to coincide with the Indian Spring festival of Holi – a joyful celebration of color, flavors and renewal. 

Holi has crossed over into the mainstream and several cities across the world have a variety of celebrations including music festivals, outdoor block parties, color runs and culinary events.

The result is a brilliant surprise, and I am sure consumers who get their hands on this Limited Release will love it!”

• Tasting Notes: Our chutney-inspired beer is an intense flavor bomb, blended from two parts – a rich, malty and spicy Belgian Ale, with the addition of tamarind, giving this beer a tangy-sour flavor. The aroma is filled with notes of toast, fig, raisin, and dark fruit, complemented by a pleasant tartness from the tamarind.
