Food, beer and sports: a pairing as old and rewarding as we all can remember. But we’ve been forgetting to add something very important to that list: water.
That is, until now.
As a brand that has always been proud of its longstanding partnership with the NBA and its golden legacy of sports marketing, Budweiser is now using the discipline of athletes to demonstrate why it’s so important to alternate beers with water.
Yesterday, Budweiser released a new beer commercial which was produced with the National Basketball Players Association, with a sound, responsible message that may seem counter-intuitive: “Drink water between beers”.
The two-minute spot is part of Anheuser-Busch InBev-owned Budweiser’s broader responsible drinking campaign called “Drink Wiser” and coincides with the beer giant’s freshly-renewed NBA partnership deal.
According to sources, it will broadcast during NBA games on TV, online and in arenas across the league. The message will also be on all Budweiser primary and secondary packaging.
Additionally, the campaign will also include The Drink Wiser Challenge, in conjunction with YouTube TV, giving fans the opportunity to win NBA Finals tickets and signed memorabilia.
