Hoppris d.o.o. was established in 1999 as a family owned company. We are located in Slovenia, a small country in Europe, which is fifth in the world in hop production. The company’s main activity is hop production and hop trade at an International level. Our production on the farm dates back continuously from 1890 as a family business. As a company, we were established in 1999, but our growing-production of hops on our farm has continuously been going on from 150 years.
The company is family owned where three generations work side by side. General Manager Prislan Viktor, 66 years old. His son, the Owner, Sebastjan Prislan, 40 years old. Even younger generations of two boys 8 years and 4 years, are starting to learn to work on hops.
Right now, we are growing and distributing 7 varieties of hops. Our main products are hop pellets type 90 in 5 kg bags vacuum pack and cold stored. We mainly supply to craft brewers all over the world, but our main market is UK, Belgium, EU, North America, The South America and in the recent years, India.
The recent years have been very exciting about new hop varieties. Our institute in Slovenia has grown two new varieties of flavour hops: STYRIAN CARDINAL & STYRIAN WOLF. Those two are called “Flavour hops” – which have intense sweet taste of different fruits, which are later present in beer. There are new varieties coming in too, but since this is a slow process, we can expect one new variety each year.
On our farm, we are focused on planting new varieties to satisfy the demand of those two new varieties. Craft breweries all over the world are increasing and the demand for variety is very high. This gives us potential for growth right now. Nevertheless, we are still depending a lot on the weather, despite irrigating all plantations but 2015, was one of the worst in the history of our farm with 40% lower crops yields. Summer temperature in July had gone up to 40° Celsius, right in the time of flowering of hops and this was harming the plants, and even if we watered them they could not bear so much heat.
Sebstjan, Owner Hoppris, during his recent conversation with Pradeep Verma, adviser to Brewer World, thanked him for his longstanding association with team Hoppris and for providing market insights of India and the subcontinent from time to time. Our mission is to supply brewers with high quality hop products from Slovenia. Following this, permanent care and stringent quality control is implemented so that hops quality is controlled through out the entire process. Beginning on the farm, with plant protection, harvesting, drying, baling and storage and further processing to hop products, until final delivery to customers.
Growers in Slovenia produce traditionally aroma hop varieties that have been introduced by the Slovenian Institute for Hop Research and Brewing. We offer different packing and sizes, depending on the type of beer production.

BOBEK (Styrian Golding’s)
Aromatically hops, with 5,5% alpha.
Substitute for: KENT GOLDING, SPALT, WILLAMETTE, FIRST GOLD, HERSBRUCKER, OPAL, SAAZ, SPALTER, WILLAMETTE
Super aromatically hops, with 4% alpha.
Substitute for: FUGLES, HALLERTAU, TETTNENGER, GOLDING, and LIBERTY.
Hops for bittering, with 12-14% alpha
Substitute for: TAURUS, GALENA, CHINOOK, HERKULES.
HOPS IN BALES RB 60
FORM OH HOP: Hops in bales are pressed bales RB 60 or in farmer bales.
Hops in bales are relatively unstable and susceptible to adverse environmental conditions such as high-temperature and excessive moisture. The brewing resins are less susceptible to this degradation if bales are stored at cold temperatures (3 – 5°C).

HOP pellets type 90
Regular hop pellets are natural hops that are physically converted into a more convenient form. The tightly compressed bales of hops are mechanically broken up and any foreign material is removed by physical and magnetic sorting. The hop cones are milled into powder which is then blended to ensure consistency and uniformity of the hop pellets. The mixed hop powder is then pelletized in a pellet mill. The pellets are packaged according to the customer’s specifications in sealed foil pouches. Stability Regular Hop Pellets preserve the brewing quality of hops. The foil barrier and the removal of oxygen in the hop pellet package greatly retard the degradations of alpha-acids and essential hop oils. Nevertheless, cold storage is recommended until the pellets are used in the brewery. Packing in foils of 5 kg till 20 kg, cartons of 20 kg or 40 kg, pallets of 480 kg to 600 kg.
CO2 Extract is an extract of hops produced by extraction of hop pellets using carbon dioxide under liquid or supercritical conditions. It contains alpha-acids, beta-acids and essential oils and is normally used as a partial or complete replacement for kettle hops or hop pellets. It is an extremely stable, convenient and concentrated alternative to the use of hops or hop pellets.

Packaging: CO2 Extract can be packaged in cans, pails and drums according to customer requirements. Cans: 0.5 to 4 kgs.
