Carbon dioxide gas is generated in a brewery during fermentation of wort. The CO2 generated is adequate to cater to the needs of CO2 needed in a brewery. To be self-sufficient on CO2 supply a brewery should have high efficiency and a reliable CO2 recovery plant. Hypro Smart Wort Cooling System
Wort cooling is a mandatory unit process in Breweries which uses huge amount of refrigeration energy. One of the innovative offerings from Hypro is “Hypro Smart Wort Cooling System” This wort cooling scheme has replaced more than ten traditional wort coolers in India and the numbers are growing. The offerings result in huge potential energy savings compare to traditional wort coolers and has been a proven product. The smart wort coolers are not only saving water for the breweries but also saving electrical energy spent in the refrigeration plant.
Multi Evaporation Split Refrigeration Refrigeration is a very important process in a brewing industry and obviously a major source of energy consumption. Conventionally breweries run with ammonia as primary refrigerant and glycol as secondary. Later on, few breweries opted for direct ammonia expansion scheme to save on energy required in the refrigeration plants to some extent by increasing the evaporation temperature of ammonia in the main plant. Owing to the burning issue on power savings the focus has certainly shifted to analyse if the current systems are energy efficient or there exists a scope to save on power in the current systems. Every unit saved on power not only is cost effective but also a tribute to a greener and cleaner earth. To make systems more and more energy efficient Hypro has focused on energy requirements in a brewery and now has one solution ready to be offered. Multi evaporation split refrigeration is a very innovative offering from Hypro which eliminates the risky direct liquid ammonia based cooling in brewing process areas but at the same time it offers power savings using the safe secondary refrigerant – Propylene Glycol.

HyMi Brewing Systems: For research oriented professionals, Hypro brings a Smart solution in HyMi Brewing System which can produce 30 to 50 Litres of Brewing Wort in one batch. The distinct feature is a possibility of experimenting with variety of mashing cycles, infusion, decoction, single infusion, double decoction & triple decoction. One can experiment lautering cycles to arrive at most optimum parameters for faster wort collection and increasing the conversion efficiency in brew house at the same time. Compact design, steam based heating possibility of pressure boiling of wort and user-friendly panels with loggers are some of its benefits. Only the size gets smaller but all other features remain the same, and such that the results from HyMi systems can be related very much for scaling up operations. Precise process control in sync with bigger brewery plants is a distinct advantage with “HyMi” system. HyMi can also be a product for those seasonal market resorts where though the consumption is less, fresh crafted beers can be offered.
Keeping in view the environmental impacts of CO2 and looking at the higher and higher size of the Craft Breweries Hypro has introduced a very innovative product. The “HyCrC” plants from Hypro will recover CO2 from Craft Breweries and make them self-sufficient in CO2. These plants effectively stop release of CO2 into atmosphere and reuse the CO2 into brewing process. HyCrC plants produce as small as 6 kg/h of liquid CO2 to 120 kg/h liquid CO2, based on requirements (for larger capacities Hypro has the MEE CO2 recovery plants). HyCrC delivers pure CO2 > 99.9% v/v at the outlet of the plant and at 7/g pressure in vapour form which can be operated manually or automatically. The main advantage is they receive 100 % Food Grade CO2 from a known source of generation, in house and eliminates handling of CO2 cylinders.
